PRINCIPAL’S MESSAGE
After being in the teaching profession for almost 34 years, there one thing I can say with certainty that I have never taken it as just a profession. Every year students brought with them new subjects, new curiosities and new challenges however it was all worth as I was able to guide my students through the thick-and-thin of not merely their academics but their personal, social and economic differences, which led them to be a responsible citizen and person. With all my years as a teacher, I can say that the role and duties of a teacher are equivalent to those of parents in more than one ways, as many-a-times the students listen to and confide in their teachers more than their parents.
Today, the crime trend is increasing among teenagers and theft, suicide, murder, terrorism are at the forefront. It is important for the parents, family and teachers to offer a solid base to the young minds, which means they must do as they say and not have dual behaviour. The soft characters of the students are moulded with the social and moral values and for this, parents should also keep a distance from the so-called recreational like mobile, TV and internet these days. This does not mean that one should not be in trend with the technology; it simply means that parents ought to be aware of their actions as children are their reflection.
Teachers have an important role in this too, as they are the ones who can guide the students from the beginning and teach them good morals of honesty, truthfulness, discipline and not harm others just for their own interests. Considering the increase in teenage suicide numbers, the parents and teachers must guide and motivate the students to fight their problems and overcome the challenges of life, as the saying goes –
“If opportunity doesn’t knock, build a door.”
The students are shaped into a strong personality and to have a soft heart towards the needy, the poor, the animals as well as nature. I feel that the students should be educated keeping in mind their personal and psychological differences, as it is the duty of both parents and teachers to help the students. All I mean by this is that the process of teaching will be more fruitful if it combines the syllabus with the moral teachings.
My message is not be taken as mere jotting down of simple thoughts, rather they are the rules which I have tried to follow in the 34 years of my academic life. It was always in my mind that if I am able to bring some constructive changes in the lives and attitude of my students in the whole session, then they will be able to fulfill their responsibilities.
With Best Wishes and Blessings…
